Window on the Past

Tarbert had its own military regiment, the loyal Tarbert Fencibles. This infantry regiment was raised by Sir Edward Leslie in July 1798. Recruits were drawn mainly from counties Kerry and Limerick. The Fencibles were primarily home guard regiments for the defence of Ireland and England in the event of a French invasion. The Tarbert Fencibles served in the South of England and the Channel Islands. Over 200 volunteers from the regiment took part in the war in Holland against France and her alli.....

Colleen Bawn 200th anniversary

COLLEEN BAWN 200th  ANNIVERSARY & TARBERT BRIDEWELL TOUR  – will be held on Sat.27th July at 10am – €15 per person – Booking essential. Biodiversity Study of Tarbert (2018)

The Biodiversity Study of Tarbert (2018) will be launched in the Community Centre after 11.30 mass on Sunday, 20th Jan. This study was undertaken by Biodiversity Consultant, Geoff Hunt at the request of Tarbert Development Association – Tidy Towns. Lal Browne Bookmakers

It was disappointing to see a second business closure in Tarbert with the closure of Lal Brownes Bookmakers, Main Street. After 40 years working in Tarbert, John Liston and Stephen Spillane with 20 years service of running the front of house and keeping the punters happy, closed their door on Monday the 31st of December. We would like to wish John and Stephen a very happy and healthy retirement.     .....

Happy Retirement Seamus Enright

On behalf of everyone in Tarbert we would like to congratulate and wish Seamus Enright, of Enright’s Restaurant, a very long, happy and healthy retirement. Seamus has been a chef for 45 years and his restaurant will be sadly missed here in Tarbert. Included in the photos below are Seamus with his son James, daughter Tricia and Fr. TARBERT POST OFFICE

The last posting Christmas date for the USA is Dec 7th for parcels & registered post and for letter post it is Dec 10th. Postal boxes, mailing bags, padded envelopes & Greetings from Tarbert Christmas Cards are available at the Post Office. The Santa post box has also arrived at the Post Office, children can post their santa letters in the post box & receive a reply. Children please ensure you add your name & address are on the back of your envelope. .....

Santa Claus is  coming to  town. Visit  Santa  at the Tarbert Bridewell on Sun. 9th Dec from 3pm to 6pm. Fun and games for all with Mrs. Claus and Santa’s Helpers.
